What’s Right, And What’s Wrong, With Reward-Based “Positive” Dog Training

Right:
dogs are motivated by reward, positive reinforcement.
Who isn’t?
I say almost my entire methodology is “looking for opportunities to reward.”

Wrong:
“Rewards” as pure distraction (doesn’t treat; at best only postpones)
At worst reinforces (what works is what you’ll get more of!)
Need correction, startle, redirection, to stop bad behavior or neurotic/obsessive mindset –
So you can reward the calm mindset, the alternative behavior.

Need to CREATE opportunities to reward!
